Indexable Starter Package Description
Kitting up a new lathe is always a daunting task, especially if you're new to machining. For this reason we've developed indexable starter kits to get you set up.
The starter kit contains all the basic holders to let you do:
- External Turning
- Internal Boring
- Parting off / External Grooving
- External Threading
- Internal Threading

External Turning Contents:
For this operation we've picked you a left and right hand tool for general external turning. Rather than pick you a screw on insert we've selected a clamped insert. The clamped insert will give you more usable edges (for best economy) and is generally thicker = stronger. As this is the most common operation you will be doing on the lathe we've picked 2 different radiuses of insert 0.8mm for medium machining and 0.4mm for a finer surface finish. Both inserts have been selected with a premium grade & coating to ensure you can machine most materials.
1off - TCLNR 2020 K12 Right Hand Toolholder (TTH0110) - Allows you to turn down diameters towards the chuck (Right Hand)
1off - TCLNL 2020 K12 Left Hand Toolholder (TTH0110L) - Allows you to turn down diameters towards the tailstock (Left Hand)
10off - CNMG 120408-BG ET33C Inserts (TI00113) - Excellent for general machining of Steels, Stainless & Super Alloys

Internal Boring Contents:
For this operation we've picked you 3 different diameter bars for internal turning/boring. All 3 bars increase in length in relation to diameter and take the same screw on insert as each other. For internal boring we have chosen a screw on positive relief insert (rather than clamped negative relief insert) to allow you to access smaller holes that would not otherwise be possible. The inserts will give you 2 usable edges and are a premium grade & coating to ensure you can machine most materials.
1off - S08H SCLCR06 (95Deg) Screw-on Boring Bar (TTH0019) - 8mm Dia. Bar (for holes with a minimum bore diameter of 11mm)
1off - S10K SCLCR06 (95Deg) Screw-on Boring Bar (TTH0020) - 10mm Dia. Bar (for holes with a minimum bore diameter of 13mm)
1off - S12M SCLCR06 (95Deg) Screw-on Boring Bar (TTH0021) - 12mm Dia. Bar (for holes with a minimum bore diameter of 16mm)
10off - CCMT 060204-BF ET801 Carbide Finishing Inserts (TI00001) - For light cutting of Steels, Stainless, Cast Iron & Superalloys. Inserts fit all 3 boring bars above.
External Parting off / Grooving Contents:
For this operation we've picked you: a block (to fit in the tool post); a blade that clamps into the block; and inserts that will cut a 3mm groove. This tool will allow you to cut off sections of diameter bar and create grooves and undercuts (for creating a channel for your threading insert to stop when you disengage your feed).
1off - 20mm x 20mm Square Shank Tool Block (for 26mm Parting off Blade) (OM13057) - This fits in the tool post and allows you to slide the blade in or out and clamp the blade at the desired reach.
1off - 3mm Wide Parting off Blade (26mm Height) (OM13063) - Holds the parting off/grooving insert (comes with insert insertion/removal tool).
10off - 3.0mm Wide TiAlN Parting Off Carbide Inserts (OM15068) - For parting off/grooving in almost all materials you may be machining.
External Thread Turning Contents:
For this operation we've picked you 1 tool holder for cutting external right hand threads. We've picked a 16mm edge length (size 3) insert for rigidity and the range of thread sizes available. The inserts in this kit are for cutting metric threads from 1mm - 2mm pitch (by far the most common requested) and in grades for cutting all materials.
1off - 20.0mm Square Right Hand External Threading Holder (AL20-3RH) - Fits 16mm (Size3) LT Threading Inserts for creating right hand threads.

We've picked an 11mm edge length (size 2) insert for best access to the smallest bore diameters. The inserts in this kit are for cutting metric threads from 1mm - 2mm pitch (by far the most common requested) and in grades for cutting all materials.
